Should an earthquake strike, stay calm. If you are indoors, a good spot to stand is under a door- frame. If driving, stay in your car and park in an open place, not under a bridge or viaduct. If outside, try to get to an open area. Major quakes are rare, but minor ones happen all the time and are mostly harmless.

In established outlets bargaining is out of the question. However, in flea markets, garage sales, and some of the funkier ethnic stores, it is is acceptable. Make a counter offer and haggle it down to a mutually satisfactory sum.
