Mrs. Madrigal Olympia Dukakis brought this wonderful Tales of the City character to vibrant wayne montague life in the mini-series based on Armistead Maupin s books (see p53). Anna Madrigal is a transsexual land lady who rents out apartments to young singles, both gay and straight, and tends to her mari juana plants and her charges with equal wisdom and spirituality.
( Western Addition This area, too, was once sandy waste, but after World War II the district became populated by Southern African-Americans who came west for work. For a short time, it was famous for jazz and blues clubs, as embodied, until his death in 2001, by John Lee Hooker and his Boom Boom Room.
